When observing with a CCD camera, it is often the case that a filter is needed between the telescope and the camera, but there is no suitable thread anywhere. That is why I offer inlay rings with internal M28.5x0.6 threads (for 1.25" filters), which you can clamp between M42/T2 extensions or telescope adapters and the camera, for example. With the inlay ring, you can mount a 1.25" filter at almost any point along the optical path.
